Tash Aw

Tash Aw was born in Taipei to Malaysian parents. His family returned to Malaysia when he was two, and he grew up in Kuala Lumpur, where he was educated at a Catholic school before attending university in England.He began writing his debut novel, “The Harmony Silk Factory” while working as a lawyer in the City, and now writes full-time. “The Harmony Silk Factory”was the winner of the Commonwealth Writers Prize (Southeast Asia and South Pacific Region Best First Book), the 2005 Whitbread First Novel Award, and was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize. His second novel, “Map of the Invisible World”, set in post-Independence Indonesia and Malaysia, was published in 2009. A Post-Colonial View of Colonial Asia. Sunday, March 21, 2pm.
