2010-03-20 (15:00 - 16:00)

Growing up part Chinese in a small-town Chinese-Canadian restaurant is the biofictionthat award winning author Fred Wah explores in his poetic novel, Diamond Grill. His half-bred poetics has sustained a writing that intends to "mess around" with a highly racialized and multi-cultural North America. He will read from his work and talk about how improvisation and invention are necessary compositional tools for the writer who wants to shift perception and discover the agency of ambiguity – "Keep standing in the doorway/ Minding the commotion.”
